10 things on the 10th: Goals for 2013

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a lovely Chrimbo & New Year, now for the first blog post of 2013. Today is January 10th which means time for 10 things on the 10th. This month I wanted to share 10 of my goals for the coming year.

1: Lose Weight- something I say every New Year but since I stopped going to Weight Watchers a year ago my weight has crept up so at the start of this week I bit the bullet and rejoined. This time I'm following it online rather than going to meetings and now I have an ipad I can keep track of my points on the app. I'll try and keep you posted as to how things are going

2: Learn to bake- probably not the best thing after I've just said I wanted to lose weight lol! I'm not going to lie I cant cook but I have got a very sweet tooth. Last year for the jubilee I baked a Victoria sponge and while it wasnt aesthetically pleasing on the eye it tasted yummy and I caught the baking bug. So I have decided if I cant cook I'm going to bake! I want to try and bake something at least once a month, luckily I received a couple of baking books for Christmas to inspire me including this fab book
3: Scrap more- scrapping always relaxes me and I love the process of putting a page together but I only normally manage 2 layouts a month so if possible I'd like to do a few more (In an ideal I'd win the lottery, give up work and scrap for a living but never mind lol!) This leads to...

4: Use up old stash before buying more- easier said than done when I see images of all the lovely new releases at CHA and I have gotten better since I started subbing to a kit but I still have oodles of stash taking over the place! I keep telling Ian I need a craft room lol!

5: Learn to stamp- again this will help me with number 4! Lovely stamps are everywhere and I have a few but whenever I stamp an image it comes out either blurry or partly missing so I want to improve so I can..

6: Make my Christmas cards- I tried this a couple of years ago and found it stressful as i had to rush so I havnt done it since but then feel guilty when my mum gives me a lovely card shes made. So I recently brought some stamps in the sale over at Visible Image in the hope that I'll improve my stamping to make some quick cards.

7: Get my Beetle- after my car played up last year I decided enough was enough and it was time to sell her, especially after cheering myself up by looking online at VW Beetles and finding out the insurance will be roughly the same and I'd only need to do a little saving. So now I need to get around to advertising Susie and putting her on the market

8: Go to see Wicked in London- I have always wanted to see Wicked and have some of the songs on my ipod so I was thrilled when my bosses brought me a Ticket Master voucher for my 30th to put towards a ticket. But alas the voucher is still sat on the side. But then a couple of days ago a friend asked if I still wanted to go and is looking into tickets yay! Everyone deserves the chance to fly!
9: Blog more- my poor little blog you only usually have two posts a month, probably because I only use you to show my crafty creations but hopefully if I mange some of my goals you'll be used more. I also want to try and keep up with 10 things on the 10th. If anyone wants to know what goes on in my everyday life then I can share that here too?

10: Be happy!- probably the most important goal of all x

Sept 10 things on the 10th

Its time for another 10 things on the 10th, that time of the month where we list 10 things of our choice. This month as I'm so unprepared (nothing new there) I've decided to list the first 10 songs played on shuffle on my ipod, this will be interesting lol!

1: The Ting Tings "Shut Up & Let me go"

2: Glee "Smooth Criminal"

3: Steps "After the Love has gone" (I admit I didnt even know that was on there!)

4: Sonny & Cher "I Got you babe"
5: Pink "Leave me alone (I'm Lonely)"
6: Skunk Anansie "Charlie Big Potato"
7:  Wicked "Popular"
8: Steps "Tragedy" (Oh dear they made it again lol!)
9: The Prodigy "No Good"
10: Oasis "Little by Little"

So that was fun & a tad random lol! I hope you enjoyed a brief glimpse into my rather mixed taste in music, I may do it again soon! xx

10 things on the 10th August

I know I'm a day late but after a hectic week my brain was just not working yesterday, nothing new there I can hear everyone shouting, but its time for another 10 things on the 10th. This month I thought I'd list 10 reasons why I love Scrapbooking.

1: You do not need to be arty to craft. I readily put my hands up and say I am not arty at all, I even struggle to draw a straight line with a ruler! But with crafting this does not matter as...

2: There is no right or wrong. There are no rules with Scrapbooking, so what if something I cut or stick down isnt straight (which is very often the case), or a layout doesnt turn out how you imagined it in your head. IT DOESNT MATTER!!!

3: Its relaxing. Whether its just choosing papers for a layout and shuffling them around a bit or actually sitting down and scrapping I always feel relaxed & refreshed after

4: Lots of pretty Stash! My OH would probably say this is a bad thing!

5: Making friends. I've mentioned before the group of friends I've made through UKS and its great to have like minded friends to help & encourage you if you get stuck on anything as they've been there and get it.

6: I actually look at & share the photos I take. Nowadays with digital cameras people just seem to take photos and store them on their computer or just on their camera and never look at them again or share them with people! Now if someone asks if I had a nice holiday I can say Yes or No and share the story with them without huddling around a computer screen or a camera!

7: I take more photos. Even if it is of silly things like my wellies I take photos so I can tell a story later.

8: There are lots of lovely blogs out there. I love finishing work and reading my blog list to see other peoples work or watch tutorials to gain tips.

9: It gives me an excuse to be messy for a bit. When I scrap at home there are usually papers all spread out on the floor or scraps of paper around the bin rather than in it as I'm too in the "zone" to tidy up, dont worry though I do tidy up afterwards lol!

10: It leads on to wanting to try new techniques & crafts. I've recently brought some mists to play with as I've seen them used on other peoples layouts and liked it, I've brought some stamps to try and improve my stamping as I've never been the best, & I've just discovered Smash Books and I'm hooked!!

I hope my list makes sense & I'm sure there are a few points you may agree with! Pop over toShimelle to check out some more lists xx

10 things on the 10th

I've seen a few bloggers join in with this so I thought I would give it a go. Basically on the 10th of every month you make a list of 10 things of your choice and share with everybody else. As this is my first 10 things I thought I would start with a 10 random things about me!

1- Basic info: My full name is Jessie Michelle Grey and I was born the 16th June 1981. I live with my partner of 6 years Ian and our pooch Buster
2- I live in the small market town Stamford in Lincolnshire. We are in the far bottom corner of Lincolnshire, if you head out of town in one direction you find yourself in Rutland, another lands your in Cambridgeshire, another in Northamptonshire!

3- Ian and I originally went out with each other briefly at school. Years later I became friends with his sister Jo who set us up and the rest they say is history!

4- I'm a huge Bon Jovi and have been fortunate to have seen them 5 times!

5- We have 2 little friends who always comes away with us on our travels. Vernon the turtle and Roger the monkey always sneak into our bags when we go away whether it be on holiday, on scrapbooking retreats or even in our rucksacks when we walked Snowdon!
6- I've recently become a Zumba nut! I started going to Zumba classes last year and instantly became hooked! Since then I have taken part in two Zumbathons for charity (the first was 2 hours, the most recent was 3 hours on the one weekend this summer we actually had warm weather!)

7- I love Snoopy! If Snoopy is on it then I have to have it! I have a complete collection of McDonalds Happy Meal toys (mostly brought from carboots or Ebay you'll be pleased to know!) & I also still have my original Snoopy I stole from my mum when I was 2 years old!

8- I currently drive a Nissan Micra called Susie Suu due to her number plate although I am trying to save for my dream car a Betty the Beetle.

9- I love pink & stars. I work in a baby & childrenswear shop and its a little joke that if I'm involved with the buying and an item is pink or has stars on or is pink with stars then I'll choose it!

10- I'm not ashamed to say it but I am a Twihard! I read Twilight just as the film was released and I was hooked, although I've always been a slight vampire girl whether it was watching Interview with a Vampire with my mum when I was 13 or watching Buffy and Angel later on. Thanks to this slight obsession and through scrapbooking I've met a fab group of ladies on UKS and next year we will be having our third annual retreat
So those are a few random anecdotes about me, hopefully I haven't bored anyone! I'll get thinking about next months list x
