Hearts Desire: Sketchy Scrappers

I'm playing catch up, not just in my scrapping but my blogging too! A couple of weeks ago I managed to catch up (briefly) with the Sketchy Scrappers challenges by making a layout for June's sketch. This sketch was set by Julia.
I was still on a roll with my Harry Potter photos and scrapped this photo of the Mirror of Erised.
I used papers from Heidi Swapp. Being Harry Potter I felt like it needed a pop of gold so I added a gold doily and used some gold Thickers.
I'm still very much still obsessed with the phrase stickers from Crate Paper and managed to find some to fit the layout.

Fireside Bliss

The For the Love of Pretty Paper Facebook group have started a series of challenges to use up some of our stash. For me this is great as I'm on my spending freeze at the moment! One challenge was to use our wood grain stash, patterned paper, wood veneer etc. I went through my stash and pulled out anything wood related I could find and. When I think of wood I think of the great outdoors and campin, so I pulled a photo from our camping trip in April and scrapped this layout.
The orange paper framing the page is the B-side of a Websters Pages paper which was a wood grain pattern with a lovely orange and blue lace pattern on it. As lovely as it was I found it to over powering to use as a background so I flipped it over and used the reverse! The wood background is Amy Tangerine, the turquoise paper Simple Stories. I used a wood veneer wordl, wood grain washi & wood grain stars.

I finished off by using die cut shapes from Fancy Pants, a Flair badge, some word stickers from Crate Paper (my fave at the moment) and some sprinkles of Heidi Swapp Gold colour shine.

Card Share

The last couple of weeks has seen me making some cards for birthdays and an anniversary. The beginning of July is busy for me card wise with three birthdays and an anniversary.

I ended up only make two birthday cards as I started a third but then misplaced it somewhere. I still haven't found where I put it, no doubt I'll find in around Christmas time!
For these two cards I used paper from Amy Tangerine Plus One with some We R Memory Keepers acetate and a Kraft tag from American Crafts

Next up was an anniversary card for Ian's sister and brother-in-law.
For this I used papers and project life cards from Dear Lizzy Daydreamer. I stamped the sentiment with a 99p stamp from Hobbycraft. The sentiment reads all together so I inked up the beginning to stamp above the heart then stamped the end below, however when I did this there was still some ink on the stamp so I had to colour in the heart to disguise it a little bit!

One photo & Twenty words

It's that time of the month again to join Abifor One Photo & Twenty words.
Cooling down on a hot summer evening. Windows rolled down, the radio on as we drive through the countryside.

At the Beach: Challenge YOUrself #20

Welcome to July and another new challenge from Challenge YOUrself. This months challenge is a colour combo and sketch challenge
As I've said before when I scrap a colour combo I pull out any papers I have which match the palette and go from there. As these are quite summery colours it's no surprise I picked photos from a trip to the beach last summer.
The papers I used are from Fancy Pants, Simple Stories & Cosmo Cricket. While picking my papers though I came across a problem Scrappers everywhere have faced at some point, when you like both sides of a paper!
See what I mean???

I decided to use a cut apart from a Simple Stories paper as my title
The chipboard button and bunting are from Fancy Pants and I finished with stickers from Simple Stories and Crafe Paper

50 Shades of Pink: Sketchy Scrappers

Phew it's hot! So as its nearly July I thought I would share my layout for Sketchy Scrappers May sketch. This sketch was set by Caroline
I decided to scrap another Harry Potter photo. As I scrapped this layout there was a Harry Potter film on the TV so I had a fun filled afternoon at Hogwarts!
To match the dark lighting and pink of Professor Umbridge's outfits I went for a pink and grey colour combo. In an attempt to get better at misting (mine always seem to come out splotchy and not crisp) I misted through a doily mask. The bottom was quite saturated with mist as the nozzle on the bottle has got a mind of its own, but I think I managed to mop most of it up ok.

The papers were all scraps, mainly Carta Bella with one piece from Crate Paper. For my title I used two different glitter Thickers. For embellishments I used some cork pieces I recently found hidden and a couple of gold brads, a much neglected embellishment! And in an attempt to be thrifty I used some pink ribbon which came wrapped around one of my birthday presents.

Rare Photo Op

It's easy to keep in touch with family and friends now with Facebook, etc but actually meeting up is another issue. If one person can make it, then someone else can't, then if you rearrange everyone else can make it but you're away and before you know it its Christmas and another year has passed! That's how it is in my family. My mum has two brothers, one who lives in nearby Crowland who she sees every now and then, and one who lives in Stamford but somehow we hardly ever see! It's come as a joke now that they really see each other at weddings or funerals! That's why last year at Boo's Christening, which both my uncles attended, we made sure we got a pic!
I originally started this layout using different papers, but for some reason I just couldn't stick everything down straight, so I pulled everything up which ripped the paper causing me to have a paddy and throw the who thing away! I'm much happier with this paper selection though so not a complete disaster! I love the ruffled teal ribbon which matches my mums outfit perfectly.
