50 Shades of Pink: Sketchy Scrappers

Phew it's hot! So as its nearly July I thought I would share my layout for Sketchy Scrappers May sketch. This sketch was set by Caroline
I decided to scrap another Harry Potter photo. As I scrapped this layout there was a Harry Potter film on the TV so I had a fun filled afternoon at Hogwarts!
To match the dark lighting and pink of Professor Umbridge's outfits I went for a pink and grey colour combo. In an attempt to get better at misting (mine always seem to come out splotchy and not crisp) I misted through a doily mask. The bottom was quite saturated with mist as the nozzle on the bottle has got a mind of its own, but I think I managed to mop most of it up ok.

The papers were all scraps, mainly Carta Bella with one piece from Crate Paper. For my title I used two different glitter Thickers. For embellishments I used some cork pieces I recently found hidden and a couple of gold brads, a much neglected embellishment! And in an attempt to be thrifty I used some pink ribbon which came wrapped around one of my birthday presents.

Rare Photo Op

It's easy to keep in touch with family and friends now with Facebook, etc but actually meeting up is another issue. If one person can make it, then someone else can't, then if you rearrange everyone else can make it but you're away and before you know it its Christmas and another year has passed! That's how it is in my family. My mum has two brothers, one who lives in nearby Crowland who she sees every now and then, and one who lives in Stamford but somehow we hardly ever see! It's come as a joke now that they really see each other at weddings or funerals! That's why last year at Boo's Christening, which both my uncles attended, we made sure we got a pic!
I originally started this layout using different papers, but for some reason I just couldn't stick everything down straight, so I pulled everything up which ripped the paper causing me to have a paddy and throw the who thing away! I'm much happier with this paper selection though so not a complete disaster! I love the ruffled teal ribbon which matches my mums outfit perfectly.

Play??: Scrap Our Stash June Challenge

I recently discovered the challenge blog Scrap Our Stash. As I've recently started another 30 layout challenge, where I can't buy any stash until I've completed 30 layouts, I thought this would be a great way of using up my stash. This months challenge is to make a layout using elements to spell out the word BRADS. This is the layout I made
B: blue patterned paper, black patterned paper, buttons & B sides (the black paper is a B side of a Carta Bella paper & the background is a B side of a Fancy Pants paper)
R: Ribbon
A: Amy Tangerine paper, Alphas from American Crafts
D: Dog in the photo, who is called...
S: Skip, sprinkles of mist

One photo & twenty words

I'm joining in with Abi at Creating Paper Dreams to share one photo and twenty words.

Oh Mr Frog I've missed passing you as you sit and ponder. I've taken another path one I'm happy with.

The start of a summer of Scavenging

Last week saw the start of Rinda's summer scavenger hunt she sets every summer. Every summer I say I'm going to take part and fail miserably but I thought I'd give it another go. I'm happy to say so far so good and I managed to cross three items from the list.

First of all was number 1, a bouquet of flowers. I snapped these lovely flowers from my mums garden which she had on her kitchen table. I admit I did take the mick out of her for having them in a Christmas jug!

Next up was an easy one for me, number 7 a turtle. At the moment we are looking after the inlaws tortoise while they are away.

Finally on Saturday I snapped this for number 5 Architectual Columns. The outside of our local library.

It's sooo fluffy: Challenge YOUrself #19

How are we halfway through the year??? It's scary how time flies! At least now, well as I write this post that is, summer is finally here, the sun is shining, it's strawberry season and it's my birthday month! And it's also time for a new Challenge YOUrselfchallenge. This month is a nice and easy challenge where anything goes so long as YOU are in the photo! As it's an anything goes challenge I chose I random silly photo of me hugging Fluffy from Despicable Me!
I'll let you into a secret: I took this photo just so i could the gorgeous unicorn paper and embellishment from Pink Paislee's Bella Rouge collection! The papers are from that collection apart from the black & white paper on the left which is from Studio Calico.
I used one of my trusted doilies, I have to admit I never thought I'd be able to use a grey one on anything, a diamond piece from Bella Rouge and flair from A Flair for Buttons to make a cluster.
For my title I used some mini Tim Holtz alpha stickers and Thickers from Amy Tangerine. I finished off with some trusty sprinkles of mist.
